| About me... |
Born in 1964 in Havana City, in the tropical island of Cuba, I always
wanted to write fiction. A fanatic reader of everything I could put in
my hands, I started to write short stories and novels at a very young
age. In 1982 I moved to Moscow, Russia (back then the Soviet Union) to
study Physics Engineering. In 1988 I graduated with a master degree and
started working in the United Institute of Nuclear Researches in Dubna,
few kilometers away from Moscow. After the fall of the Communist Block,
I came back to Havana but due to political disagreements I was left
with no other option but to leave and go to the exile, first to Sweden
and three years later, in 1996, to Canada.
After fifteen years of learning the language in this amazing country I
decided to try and write my first novels in English. Before I had tried
some translations of my previous novels written in Spanish, but I
wasn't happy with the results. I wanted to write originals in
the language I use to communicate most of my time now, at work, with my
friends and neighbours. Canada gave me the chance to call this true north great and free
my new home and therefore, if you ask me who I would consider myself
from an artistic angle, I would say without any doubts that I'm a
Canadian author with strong Cuban, Russian and Swedish
influences, the three other places of this world of ours
which shaped my thinking and filled in a great part of my life
memories. In my stories, the readers will find pieces of each
of them, personal emotions mixed with the cultural riches of these
wonderful nations, each seem with a different optic according to my own
interpretation, wich depended mostly on the historical moment I lived
there and my individual development as a human being..
Speaking from a literary point of view, the Sciece Fiction
genre is undoubtedly my favourite, especially coming form a technical
and scientific background. Influenced by the great SF writers of both
the old East and the West, I enjoy experimenting with social and
philosofical questions related to the current moment by extrapolating
them to a futurist or fantastic environment. However, I would
also like to explore other venues like history, comedy and drama, but I
will always try to keep a link to the controversila issues of our
present society.
I'm very grateful for the opportunity Amazon is giving me to
self-publish my e-Books and also for the support from my
family and friends . I want also to say thank you to all my readers who
had taken part of their time to explore these projects and
share their ideas with me.

Current Projects...

In this section I will try to keep track of each of the
book ideas I have, including those in production, just out or ready for
publishing and also the ones I may not ever write but which I want to
share a proposal with the visitors of this page.
It is also my purpose to translate myself all my books into
Spanish. However they will be not exact transfiguratrions of the words,
but rather free versions or adaptations sometimes, in a sincere effort
to express myself according to the possibilities that this greatly rich
language offers me plus the chance to inject in these projects the
"Cubania" or Cuban spirit deeply rooted in me through
generations of family and friends, history and culture. |
This is an epic science fiction trilogy, or at least this is
the plan. The first book, "The Kingdom of Us" is my first eBook

This is a small fantasy book oriented more towards yound adults. It is
based on the wonderful paintings of the Cuban artist Carlos Guzman
which actually inspired me to write this book the very moment I saw
